Qualified Electrician

About the role

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a Qualified Electrician to join its reactive and planned maintenance team. The role involves delivering high‑quality electrical installations, repairs and inspections across both domestic and commercial properties within the borough.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical installations, repairs, fault finding and testing to required standards and legislation.
• Produce Electrical Installation Condition Reports to ensure statutory compliance.
• Service and repair mechanical systems such as heating and emergency lighting.
• Work on green technologies and renewable energy installations.
• Perform reactive and planned tasks throughout the borough, collaborating with other trades on larger projects.
• Record all work and associated costs using the council’s asset management software and mobile technology.

Required profile

• Relevant vocational qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds Electrical Theory Parts 1 & 2, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2391, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
• Extensive experience in the electrical trade.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
• Full, valid UK driving licence and physically fit for work at height and in confined spaces.

What we offer

• Pay rate £18.85 per hour PAYE or £23.98 per hour Umbrella.
• 37 hours per week with flexible working.

• Three‑month fixed‑term contract with potential for extension.
