Qualified Joiner – Full‑time Temporary Role

About the role

We are seeking a qualified joiner to join Bury Council’s repairs and maintenance team on a full‑time, three‑month temporary contract. The role involves delivering high‑quality joinery services across residential and commercial properties within the council’s portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out first‑ and second‑fix joinery tasks including doors, door frames, skirting boards, architraves and window repairs.
• Repair, replace and renew locks, composite doors and UPVC windows with minimal damage.
• Install and refurbish kitchen units, worktops and related fixtures.
• Perform carpentry maintenance such as timber roofing repairs, flooring repairs, boxing‑in works and stud‑wall construction.
• Diagnose tenant‑reported issues, record materials used and maintain vehicle stock levels.
• Use a PDA/tablet to receive work orders, update records in real time and order materials.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and site risk assessments.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 in Joinery or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points.
• Proven experience in repairs, maintenance and diagnostic joinery work, preferably within social housing or council‑managed properties.
• Ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service.
