Qualified SEN Tutor – Maths & English (Barking & Dagenham)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated SEN Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Maths and English for young people in Barking & Dagenham. The role involves 10‑15 hours per week of outreach teaching, usually in the learner’s home or community setting.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored Maths and English sessions for pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt teaching methods to rebuild confidence and support steady academic progress.
• Monitor and report learner progress in partnership with Prospero Teaching.
• Create a safe, supportive learning environment and build strong rapport with each pupil.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent).
• Strong experience supporting pupils with SEN.
• Ability to teach Maths and English at an appropriate level.
• Minimum 6 months experience in a UK school or tuition setting.
• Up‑to‑date Safeguarding Training (desirable).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
