Qualified Social Worker – Child Protection

About the role

Randstad Care is recruiting a Qualified Social Worker to join Edinburgh City Council's Children and Families Service within the Child Protection team. You will be the frontline professional responding to safeguarding concerns for children and families, working closely with core agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable young people.

Key responsibilities

• Assess reports of suspected abuse, neglect or significant harm and decide on appropriate action.
• Collaborate with Police Scotland, NHS, education professionals and other partners to conduct joint investigations.
• Carry out comprehensive needs and risk assessments and develop Child Protection Plans.
• Apply for legal orders such as Child Protection Orders or Child Assessment Orders when required.
• Make referrals to the Children’s Reporter and contribute to decisions on the Child Protection Register.
• Visit children regularly, provide practical and emotional support to families, and monitor caseload progress.
• Participate in case conferences, Child Protection Planning Meetings and Core Group meetings.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with experience in child protection.
• Ability to manage a caseload, prioritise workload and work autonomously.
• Strong communication skills for multi‑agency collaboration.
