Qualified Social Worker – Children in Care Team (Blackburn)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Children in Our Care Team at Blackburn Council. The role involves supporting children looked after during care proceedings and after conclusions, ensuring their wellbeing and compliance with court timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage caseloads for children in care, including those involved in court proceedings.
• Undertake assessments and provide recommendations for long‑term permanence plans.
• Work closely with the CIOC Court service to meet local authority and court deadlines.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners and contribute to safeguarding decisions.

Required profile

• At least 3 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in safeguarding, care proceedings or court work.
• Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Experience with the Protocol LCS system (advantageous).
