Qualified Social Worker – Children Safeguarding MAP

About the role

Our client, Surrey County Council, is seeking a qualified social worker to join the Children Safeguarding MAP team. You will manage a diverse caseload of children, families and carers, providing guidance, risk assessment and safeguarding support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage casework, identifying needs and planning support using a full range of options.
• Conduct proportionate assessments and reviews, ensuring maximum participation.
• Provide advice and guidance in line with national legislation and signpost to other services when required.
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, undertaking assessment and planning where appropriate.
• Share professional knowledge with team members and provide reflective supervision to non‑qualified staff.
• Maintain accurate case records on the council database and adhere to data protection policies.
• Uphold organisational values, promote equality and diversity, and ensure health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with experience in children’s services.
• Strong judgement on risk, accountability and decision‑making.
• Understanding of safeguarding forms of harm and related legislation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
• Willingness to register with Remedy and undergo an enhanced DBS check.
