Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Safeguarding

About the role

Our client, Peterborough City Council, is seeking a qualified social worker to join its Children’s Safeguarding team. You will work directly with children, young people and families to assess needs, manage risk and deliver protective interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Build effective partnerships with children, families and carers to promote participation in decision‑making.
• Conduct statutory assessments of risk and need, adhering to council policies and regulatory standards.
• Plan, implement and review tailored interventions for children and families.
• Manage a caseload independently while seeking support when required.
• Utilise supervision proactively for reflective practice and professional development.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and produce clear, structured reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external organisations to coordinate support and promote positive outcomes.
• Uphold the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and challenge any discriminatory behaviour.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with registration on the HCPC.
• Demonstrated ability to meet the Professional Capabilities Framework at Social Worker level.
• Strong judgement in assessing and managing risk to children and young people.
• Experience working independently within a statutory safeguarding environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding principles and equality legislation.
