Qualified Social Worker – Duty & Assessment Team

About the role

Vitalis is recruiting an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Duty and Assessment Team for Bury Council. This is a contract position paid at £35 per hour, working full‑time with a requirement to be onsite at least three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely social work assessments and interventions for children and adults as required by the Duty and Assessment service.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners, including safeguarding teams and health professionals.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with council policies and statutory guidance.
• Participate in on‑call duties and emergency response as part of the team.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (registration with the HCPC or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in duty, assessment or similar fast‑pace social work environments.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and adult care legislation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in case management systems used by local authorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication for report writing and inter‑agency liaison.
