Qualified Social Worker – First Response Team

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Social Worker to join the First Response Team supporting Leicestershire Council. The role focuses on screening and triaging contacts and referrals concerning children and young people, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and triage all contacts and referrals related to children and young people.
• Gather and analyse information from families, professionals and partner agencies.
• Apply safeguarding thresholds and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
• Record decisions, rationale and outcomes accurately within set timescales.
• Collaborate with Children’s Social Care, Targeted Family Help and multi‑agency partners.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
• Recent experience in Children’s Social Care, preferably in front‑door, MASH, screening, duty or assessment roles.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and confidence in threshold decision‑making.
• Ability to work quickly in a high‑volume environment.
• Excellent recording, analytical and communication abilities.

Required skills

• Social Work England registration.
• Experience with screening and triage processes.
• Understanding of safeguarding thresholds.
