Qualified Social Worker – Help & Protection Team

About the role

City of Doncaster Council is looking for an ambitious Qualified Social Worker to join its frontline Help & Protection Team. Working on a full‑time locum basis, you will support families by delivering high‑quality safeguarding interventions and ensuring children remain safely at home wherever possible.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct statutory single assessments, child protection plans and regular visits that reflect the child’s voice.
• Collaborate with health partners, police, schools and local support hubs to coordinate multi‑agency interventions.
• Prepare detailed reports and lead contributions at Core Groups and Child Protection Conferences.
• Identify early signs of crisis and intervene to prevent escalation, promoting long‑term family stability.
• Manage a balanced caseload of Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Post‑qualifying experience in statutory children’s services, specifically in child protection, assessment or safeguarding.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits.

• Strong multi‑agency collaboration and communication skills.
• Effective risk assessment and crisis prevention capabilities.
