Qualified Social Worker – Hospital Team

About the role

We are seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join Bury Council’s Hospital Team. The role is full‑time and based onsite, delivering professional social work services to adult patients across acute and mental health settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality social work assessments and reports for adult service users.
• Manage a complex caseload, assessing and mitigating risk while promoting choice and control.
• Chair Best Interests and Discharge Planning meetings and support multidisciplinary case conferences.
• Produce detailed assessments, care plans and recommendations in line with statutory guidance.
• Mentor newly qualified social workers and support junior staff under management oversight.
• Uphold safeguarding duties for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Required profile

• Registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years post‑qualifying experience in adult or mental health social work.
• Valid DBS clearance.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hospital environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of vulnerable individuals.
