Qualified Social Worker – Mental Health & Reablement

About the role

Leicestershire County Council is looking for a qualified social worker to join its Mental Health & Reablement team. The role bridges acute mental health recovery, community integration and short‑term reablement, helping adults regain autonomy and sustainable independence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct strengths‑based social care assessments under the Care Act 2014, focusing on reablement goals.
• Manage a caseload of adults with complex mental health needs, supporting transition from hospital to community settings.
• Complete Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interest decisions and handle adult safeguarding enquiries.
• Collaborate with health professionals, occupational therapists, community mental health teams and secondary care services to deliver seamless care pathways.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with a current Social Work England registration.
• Substantive post‑qualifying experience in adult social care, adult mental health or reablement/intermediate care.
• Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983/2007 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and resilience for multi‑agency work.

Required skills

• Legislative knowledge of UK social care and mental health statutes.
