Quality Assurance Engineer (Mechanical)

About the role

The Senior QC Engineer – Mechanical Erection will ensure quality compliance during the erection, installation, inspection, and testing of boiler pressure components such as water‑wall panels, economisers, headers, and associated piping systems. The role supports Acciona’s projects from the London site, adhering to project specifications, international standards, approved procedures, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

Key responsibilities

• Lead and perform QC inspections for mechanical erection activities, including water‑wall panels, boiler pressure parts, headers, drums, manifolds, and structural supports.
• Verify erection work against IFC drawings, method statements, and ITPs.
• Witness and record fit‑up, dimensional checks, torqueing, bolting, welding, and heat‑treatment activities.
• Conduct material receiving inspections and review vendor documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR); verify welder qualifications.
• Coordinate and approve Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) reports (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).
• Maintain complete QC documentation: inspection reports, material certificates (EN 10204 3.1/3.2), welding maps, NDT reports, and test records.
• Manage RFIs, raise and follow up Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), and support testing & commissioning activities such as hydrostatic pressure testing and leak tests.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with experience in mechanical erection quality control.
• Familiarity with international standards, project specifications, and ITPs.
• Ability to supervise subcontractor quality activities and ensure compliance.
