Quality Assurance Supervisor

About the role

Severn & Wye Smokery Ltd is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to join its technical team in Gloucester (with a parallel opening in Bellshill, Glasgow). You will lead the day‑to‑day QA function, working closely with production, hygiene, engineering and technical colleagues to protect product safety, quality and brand reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the site QA team, fostering a strong food‑safety culture.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System.
• Ensure compliance with BRCGS, HACCP, customer and legal requirements.
• Plan and conduct audits, inspections, traceability exercises and quality checks.
• Manage environmental monitoring and microbiological sampling programmes.
• Investigate complaints, non‑conformances and out‑of‑specification results.
• Oversee product hold, quarantine and release procedures.
• Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven QA or technical experience in food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, GMP, allergens and traceability.
• Experience conducting internal audits and root‑cause investigations.
• Confident communicator able to challenge standards and influence change.
• Recognised Food Safety or HACCP qualification.
• Leadership, organisational and communication skills.
