Quality Inspector – 6 Month Contract in Portsmouth

About the role

The Quality Inspector will work on a 6‑month contract for a leading defence and aerospace client, based in a cleanroom environment in Portsmouth. The role pays £35 per hour inside IR35 and focuses on ensuring that space equipment production meets strict quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure conformity of production and test operations within the cleanroom to approved quality standards (ECSS‑Q‑ST‑ or ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70‑61).
• Validate “as‑built” designs and control environmental and health‑&‑safety aspects of assembly, integration and test activities.
• Support Key Inspection Points (KIPs) and monitor workmanship and cleanroom practices.
• Perform design and integrity verification inspections on flight hardware and test set‑ups.
• Identify, record and investigate non‑conformities with manufacturing engineering and process owners.
• Support root‑cause analysis of non‑quality events and conduct internal cleanroom audits.
• Complete QVP verifications and assist with critical moves, Ready‑for‑Test processes and flight packing.
• Maintain documentation, approve re‑works and control quarantined equipment.

Required profile

• Experience working to ECSS‑Q‑ST quality standards.
• Proven ability to perform design and integrity verification inspections on flight hardware.
• Familiarity with cleanroom environments and health‑&‑safety controls.
• Capability to identify non‑conformities and support root‑cause investigations.
• Experience conducting internal audits and documentation checks.
