Quality/Technical Technician

About the role

The Quality/Technical Technician will lead technical evaluation and quality assurance for packaging materials and production processes. Working across R&D, laboratory testing, regulatory compliance and supplier liaison, you will ensure products meet performance, safety and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute R&D trials on new packaging materials, coatings and structures, documenting methods and recommendations.
• Perform routine and investigative laboratory analyses (physical, chemical and sensory/odour testing) and maintain accurate test records.
• Manage odour/sensory panels, analyse results and produce technical reports.
• Process and analyse manufacturing quality data to support continuous improvement and operational quality systems.
• Prepare technical data sheets, declarations of compliance and respond to customer quality queries and complaints.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, conduct COSHH risk assessments and stay updated on evolving standards.
• Act as primary technical contact for suppliers, perform assessments and monitor supplier quality performance.
• Provide on‑site technical assistance at customer and supplier locations in the UK and overseas.
• Oversee laboratory supplies, equipment calibration, servicing and maintenance schedules.
• Support and train other quality/technical personnel and contribute to team meetings.
