Quantity Surveyor – Capital Projects (Cheltenham)

About the role

Ian Williams is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support its Capital (Planned Works/Refurbishment) contracts for Cheltenham Borough Council and Stroud District Council. You will work across commercial and operational aspects, helping to deliver high‑quality repairs that improve residents' homes.

Key responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting risks and mitigation solutions.
• Produce budget cost‑value reconciliations and identify commercial opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Contracts Manager to set productivity targets, milestones and labour incentives before contract start.
• Maintain strong client and supplier relationships to manage variations and progress proactively.
• Handle purchase, credit and debtor responsibilities using the COINS system to achieve expected cash flow.
• Analyse weekly site reports for cost, labour, performance and safety data.
• Prepare monthly contract valuations.

Required profile

• Inquisitive, organised and honest with a genuine people‑focused attitude.
• Proven experience in a similar quantity surveying or project surveying role.
• Experience managing works valued up to £3 million.
• Strong eye for cost‑saving opportunities and value maximisation.

• COINS (construction accounting software)
