Quantity Surveyor – Construction

About the role

The successful candidate will join a well‑established main contractor in Lancashire, managing the commercial side of new‑build and refurbishment projects from pre‑construction through to final account. Working closely with the Commercial Director, Project Managers and site teams, you will help deliver public‑sector schemes profitably while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage commercial aspects of projects from tender award to final account.
• Prepare cost plans, valuations, variations and financial reports.
• Procure subcontractors and suppliers, prepare enquiry packages and analyse tender returns.
• Negotiate subcontract agreements and monitor subcontractor accounts.
• Track project costs, budgets and forecasts to maximise profitability.
• Prepare interim payment applications and agree valuations with clients.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main‑contractor environment.
• Proven track record delivering new‑build and refurbishment projects.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and commercial management.
