Quantity Surveyor – Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction business in Luton. The successful candidate will lead cost management across a variety of building projects, ensuring financial control from initial estimate through to final hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for diverse construction projects.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications and contractual documents.
• Carry out quantity take‑offs and perform cost analysis for materials and labour.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies with the project team.
• Negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve competitive pricing.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, cost changes and contract variations.
• Monitor financial performance, report budget variances and advise on corrective actions.
• Stay updated on industry trends, material costs and regulatory changes affecting project budgets.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, methods and materials.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Good knowledge of contract law and construction regulations is advantageous.
