Quantity Surveyor – Housing Capital Programme (Lancaster West Estate)

About the role

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Lancaster West Estate team, delivering a £500 million, nine‑year capital regeneration programme. Working in a hybrid model from London, you will manage cost and commercial aspects across a portfolio of housing and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage financial performance, cost control and reporting for capital works.
• Review contractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Support procurement and tender processes, including evaluation of bids.
• Produce cost estimates, forecasts and monthly expenditure reports.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
• Collaborate with project teams, consultants and contractors.
• Administer contracts in line with regulations and best practice.
• Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost management within housing, capital works or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and current regulations.
• Proven experience managing contractors and supply chains.
• Excellent analytical, financial and communication skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused attitude.
• Experience in local authority or social housing environments is advantageous.
