Quantity Surveyor (Utilities - Energy)

About the role

We are a leading infrastructure contractor delivering major utility and energy projects across the UK. We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, supporting the commercial management of long‑term framework agreements and complex engineering projects from inception to final account.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare valuations, applications, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and account settlements.
• Administer NEC contracts, including handling compensation events.
• Monitor project risks and maintain commercial risk registers.
• Assist with cost reporting, forecasting and profitability reviews.
• Identify and manage commercial opportunities and risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce commercial reports and support project reviews.
• Collaborate closely with operational teams, project managers and key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on infrastructure, utilities, energy, power, rail, water or major civil engineering projects.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts and compensation events.
• Experience managing subcontractors, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Strong commercial reporting and forecasting abilities.
• Ability to build effective relationships with project teams and stakeholders.
• Relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent commercial qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in regulated infrastructure environments (e.g., utilities, power transmission, substations, water, rail) is a plus.
