Railway Portfolio Manager (ETCS systems)

About the role

We are seeking a Railway Portfolio Manager with proven experience in European Train Control Systems (ETCS) to join a long‑term contract (12+ months). The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in a London office and two days remote. You will lead the delivery of projects that implement ETCS across the national passenger train fleet programme.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and oversee delivery of ETCS implementation projects.
• Lead the national migration to digital train control technology.
• Manage onboard ETCS technology deployment and rolling‑stock modification programmes.
• Ensure compliance with GBR, NWR railway policies and regulations.
• Provide project engineering support throughout the programme.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience delivering onboard ETCS digital technology.
• Background in rolling‑stock modification programmes.
• Familiarity with GBR and NWR railway policies and regulations.
• Strong project engineering background.
