R&D Tax Specialist (London)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced R&D Tax Specialist to lead Caribou’s brand‑new R&D tax vertical. Based in London, you will own the end‑to‑end preparation and defence of R&D tax claims for high‑growth technology clients, working closely with our engineering team to turn tax legislation into automated processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, submit and defend complex R&D tax claims with HMRC for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Collaborate with engineers to design and build internal tooling that automates manual advisory tasks.
• Manage senior client relationships independently as the subject‑matter expert for innovation funding and R&D tax services.
• Define product strategy and delivery for the new vertical, scaling it from concept to a market‑ready offering.

Required profile

• Proven track record of preparing and successfully defending R&D tax claims with HMRC.
• Comfortable translating tax legislation into logical rules for software and automation.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in early‑stage, high‑growth environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK R&D tax relief and HMRC processes.
• Experience working alongside engineering or product teams to implement technical solutions.
