Real Estate Development Solicitor – Senior Associate

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor to join our Real Estate team in Basingstoke as a Senior Associate. The successful candidate will provide client‑facing legal advice on a broad portfolio of development projects, working with developers, investors, landowners and commercial landlords. The role combines high‑quality transactional work with mentoring of junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of commercial property matters, including acquisitions, disposals, landlord‑tenant work and development transactions.
• Advise on development projects such as land acquisitions, site assembly, promotion and option agreements, conditional contracts and overage provisions.
• Conduct detailed title reviews, oversee due diligence, negotiate enquiries and prepare comprehensive reports for clients and lenders.
• Draft, review and negotiate leases, licences, agreements for lease, sale contracts and transfer documentation.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying further commercial opportunities.
• Support business development through networking, client meetings and market engagement.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, trainees and support staff.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with at least 5 years PQE in commercial property.
• Strong experience in landlord‑tenant matters and commercial acquisitions/disposals.
• Demonstrated track record advising on development‑related transactions, including options, promotion agreements and site assembly.
• Experience representing developers, landowners, investors, landlords or tenants.
• Solid understanding of commercial real estate finance and development.
