Reception Teacher – Full‑time, Early Years (Islington)

About the role

A friendly one‑form entry primary school in Islington is hiring an experienced Reception Teacher to join its Early Years team from September 2026. The full‑time position runs Monday‑Friday, 08:30 am‑4 pm, and offers a day rate of £206.75‑£268.21 PAYE.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging EYFS‑aligned lessons, including high‑quality phonics and early reading sessions.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for reception pupils.
• Support early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social‑emotional development.
• Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, differentiating for SEND and EAL learners.
• Manage behaviour effectively and prepare pupils for a smooth transition to Year 1.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and staff to promote pupil wellbeing.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK – ECTs are not considered.
• Strong experience and knowledge of the EYFS framework.
• Confidence in delivering phonics and early reading instruction.
• Proven ability to plan creative, stimulating lessons and assess pupil progress.
• Excellent behaviour management and relationship‑building skills.
