Reception Teacher – Maternity Cover (Full‑Time)

About the role

This full‑time maternity cover position starts in mid‑November 2026 at a welcoming primary school in Southwark. You will lead an established Reception class, delivering high‑quality Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision and fostering a love of learning during this crucial stage of development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging EYFS lessons in line with the Early Years Framework.
• Create a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment.
• Support children’s academic, social and emotional development.
• Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress.
• Build strong relationships with parents and carers.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and the wider Early Years team.
• Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for all learners.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching within EYFS, ideally Reception.
• Strong understanding of the Early Years Framework.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
