Receptionist – Day Surgery Unit (30 hrs/week)

About the role

The West Berkshire Community Hospital is seeking a part-time Receptionist for its Day Surgery Unit. Working 30 hours per week, you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and register patients and visitors attending the Day Surgery Unit.
• Answer and direct telephone calls, taking initial action and liaising with relevant departments.
• Check patients in and out using the electronic patient record (EPR) system.
• Make pre-operative phone calls to confirm attendance.
• Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, filing and maintaining a tidy work environment.
• Escalate complex administrative issues and support new staff training when required.

Required profile

• Experience in a reception or front-desk role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload and use initiative.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and organised environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
