Receptionist/Pathway Assistant

About the role

The Pathway Assistant/Receptionist joins the administration team in the Endoscopy Unit, providing a professional and welcoming front‑facing service to patients, visitors and staff within the GI Physiology Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact, greeting patients courteously and handling enquiries.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to patient and staff queries.
• Track patients through their care pathways and process clinical correspondence promptly.
• Maintain and update patient information in the reception area.
• Provide administrative support to the clinical, management and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth departmental operations.
• Manage daily reception duties, including scheduling and organising paperwork.

Required profile

• Previous administration experience, preferably within an NHS or healthcare setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of patients and colleagues.
• Strong organisational, negotiation and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
