Recruitment and Selection Officer

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Recruitment and Selection Officer to support West Midlands Police in attracting and onboarding talent. You will manage the end‑to‑end candidate journey, ensuring a smooth experience from application through to start date. This role is central to building a diverse, skilled workforce for the force.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively guide candidates through the pre‑offer process and onto their start date.
• Attend and manage a variety of recruitment and onboarding events.
• Respond to recruitment queries from candidates, hiring managers and stakeholders via portal, web‑chat and telephone.
• Maintain accurate records in systems such as Oracle HR & Recruitment.
• Provide campaign overviews to the Team Leader and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
• Promote the organisation’s values and ensure compliance with service level agreements, governance and legislation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume recruitment or customer‑service environment.
• Strong organisational ability to prioritise conflicting demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
