Refuge General Assistant – Part‑time (9‑month fixed term)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Refuge General Assistant to join North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA) in Barnstaple. This part‑time, nine‑month fixed‑term position supports women, children and families who have experienced domestic abuse.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical support to residents, including moving in/out of the refuge and accompanying them to appointments.
• Organise and manage donations and support activities within the refuge.
• Carry out administrative tasks and help maintain the accommodation.
• Work alongside keyworkers to create a safe, welcoming environment.

Required profile

• Experience supporting vulnerable adults, children or families in a paid or voluntary role.
• Compassionate, approachable and respectful, with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Willingness to work flexibly and travel locally as needed.

Required skills

• Basic IT skills.
