Regional Controller – Wastewater Services

About the role

The Regional Controller will oversee real‑time operational control of wastewater assets across the South West region. Working from Exeter, you will coordinate with field teams, planners and central functions to ensure safe, efficient service delivery and rapid response to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, operate and intervene remotely on wastewater assets using platforms such as FFP and Lightfoot.
• Maintain real‑time visibility of asset performance and manage alarm queues (P3/P4) in line with Service Level Agreements.
• Act as the central coordination point for field colleagues, operational teams and planning/scheduling groups.
• Communicate clearly and promptly to support both reactive and planned activities.
• Support pollution response efforts and trigger wet‑weather escalation processes when required.
• Track weather conditions via CIRT/DTN and develop weather‑related operational processes.
• Provide operational cover for other regional controllers as needed.

Required profile

• Experience in operational control or monitoring of utility assets, preferably in water or wastewater services.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to prioritise alarms and incidents under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to environmental compliance and proactive risk mitigation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with FFP operational platform.
• Proficiency with Lightfoot monitoring system.
• Experience using CIRT or DTN weather‑tracking tools.
