Registered Children’s Home Manager – Romford

About the role

We are seeking a Registered Manager to lead a 3‑bed children’s home in Harold Wood, Romford. The role involves supporting 8‑18 year olds with emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the children’s home, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
• Lead and develop staff, fostering teamwork and delivering high‑quality care.
• Maintain compliance with the Children’s Act, safeguarding policies and Ofsted standards.
• Manage budgets, KPI reporting and performance targets.
• Collaborate with external agencies, schools and health professionals to support each child’s plan.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a rated children’s home.
• At least 2 years senior‑level experience in an Ofsted‑regulated setting.
• Experience working with children who have mental health, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Strong knowledge of children’s home regulations (2015) and safeguarding procedures.
• Leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services (or willingness to work towards it).
• NVQ Level 4 Health and Social Care (Children’s Pathway) combined with a leadership qualification.
