Registered Manager – Children Residential Home

About the role

The Registered Manager will lead a children’s residential home in Luton, ensuring the service meets regulatory standards and delivers high‑quality care for children and young people. You will be responsible for safeguarding, admissions, care planning and maintaining strong relationships with external agencies, families and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the home complies with Children’s Home Regulations, Ofsted SCCIF and company policies.
• Safeguard all children and young people, implementing local safeguarding procedures consistently.
• Oversee admissions, referrals and placement plans, coordinating with the care team and external agencies.
• Monitor and review personal, pathway and placement plans, providing advice and support to staff.
• Lead and support staff in managing challenging behaviour and promoting self‑control.
• Maintain effective communication with relatives, advocates and multidisciplinary partners.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure they are up‑to‑date and acted upon.
• Provide direct care and cover for staff absences when required.

Required profile

• Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant care or health discipline.
• Minimum two years’ managerial experience in a children’s residential setting.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and the Children’s Home Regulations.
• Experience of working with Ofsted inspections and the SCCIF framework.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
