Registered Nurse or Paramedic – Forensic Custody Role (Workington)

About the role

Mountain Healthcare is seeking Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join its forensic custody team in Workington. The role involves delivering high‑quality clinical care to detainees in police custody, assessing health needs, managing emergencies and supporting vulnerable individuals, all while working autonomously alongside police and NHS partners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical and capacity assessments for detainees.
• Manage acute healthcare presentations and emergencies in custody.
• Provide mental health, substance‑misuse and safeguarding support.
• Collect and document forensic evidence, including injury assessment and evidential samples.
• Maintain accurate clinical, legal and evidential records.
• Advise custody teams and partner agencies, including hospital blood procedures under the Road Traffic Act.
• Deliver professional statements and attend court when required.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a minimum of three years post‑registration experience in an acute or urgent‑care setting.
• No prior forensic or custody experience required; training and a structured development programme will be provided.
