Registered Nurse / Paramedic – Bank Position in Workington

About the role

Mountain Healthcare Limited is seeking experienced Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join its forensic custody healthcare team on a bank basis in Workington. You will work within police custody suites, providing autonomous clinical care to detainees, many of whom are vulnerable or in crisis. Full accredited training is provided, so no prior forensic experience is required.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments to determine fitness for detention, interview, charge and release.
• Respond to acute medical episodes and provide immediate healthcare advice.
• Support safeguarding decisions and collaborate with police, NHS and other criminal‑justice partners.
• Collect and preserve forensic samples, document injuries and maintain accurate clinical and evidential records.
• Deliver care for a wide range of physical, mental health, substance‑misuse and vulnerability‑related needs.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RGN) or Paramedic qualification.
• Minimum three years’ experience in an acute clinical setting.
• Ability to work independently, make rapid clinical decisions and handle fast‑paced assessments.
• Commitment to kindness, professionalism and doing the right thing.
