Registered Nurse – Pre Assessment

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join the Pre‑Assessment department at The Ridgeway Hospital in Swindon. The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) on a flexible shift pattern, providing direct nursing care to patients prior to their procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in line with patient care plans and clinical protocols.
• Assess patient needs, prioritise care and update care plans.
• Monitor vital signs, recognise changes and escalate using clinical judgement.
• Administer medications safely according to hospital policies and the NMC Code.
• Maintain accurate, legible and timely nursing documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NMC standards, clinical governance and hospital policies.
• Identify and report incidents, safeguarding concerns and potential risks.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with a valid NMC registration.
• Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Good understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and evidence‑based practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Previous experience in a relevant specialty (e.g., surgical, medical, outpatient, orthopaedics, critical care) is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with patient‑record IT systems for documentation and care planning.
