Registered Nurse/Paramedic – Forensic Custody Role (Bank)

About the role

Mountain Healthcare is seeking Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join its forensic custody team in Workington. The role involves delivering high‑quality clinical care to detainees in police custody, assessing health needs, managing emergencies and supporting vulnerable individuals. No prior forensic experience is required as comprehensive training will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical and capacity assessments for detainees.
• Manage acute healthcare needs and emergencies in a fast‑paced environment.
• Support mental health, substance misuse and safeguarding requirements.
• Collect and document forensic evidence, including injury assessment and evidential samples.
• Maintain accurate clinical and legal records.
• Collaborate with police, NHS and partner agencies.
• Attend hospital blood procedures under the Road Traffic Act.
• Provide professional statements and attend court when required.

Required profile

• At least 3 years post‑registration experience in an acute or urgent care setting.
• Qualified as a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Paramedic (HCPC).
• Ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical judgments.
• Willingness to undertake accredited forensic training and development.
