Relief Chef – Flexible Temporary Roles Across Wirral

About the role

Berry Recruitment is seeking experienced chefs and cooks to provide relief cover across a range of settings on the Wirral. These roles are temporary and flexible, allowing you to choose shifts that suit your personal schedule while covering staff absences.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals in schools, academies, staff canteens, healthcare facilities and care homes.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in line with regulatory requirements.
• Adapt to varying menus and dietary requirements across different venues.
• Work collaboratively with existing kitchen teams to ensure smooth service during each shift.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a chef or cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) for work with vulnerable adults or children.
• Flexibility to work a mix of days, evenings and occasional weekends.
• Reliable transport is advantageous, though most locations are accessible by public transport.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards for food service.
• Ability to follow menus and dietary guidelines accurately.
