Relief Support Worker – Learning Disabilities Support

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Relief Support Worker to deliver person‑centred care for adults with learning disabilities in Jarrow, South Tyneside. You will join a dedicated team that helps service users lead meaningful, independent lives while providing flexible, short‑term cover across our network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide intimate, practical and emotional support in service users' homes.
• Assist with daily activities such as shopping, attending social events and health appointments.
• Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals and other partners to ensure coordinated care.
• Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Use the SONA app to pick up shifts and access service information.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
• Warm, person‑centred approach with strong communication skills.
• Relevant professional qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Experience with personal care and practical support tasks.
• Ability to follow care plans and health & safety guidelines.
