Rent & Service Charge Manager – Interim (3 months)

About the role

The Rent & Service Charge Manager will join the central finance function on a three‑month interim contract, overseeing rent and service charge calculations for the organisation’s housing portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Financial Operations, the role ensures compliance, income recovery and transparent communication with customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of Service Team Leaders, Rent Compliance Officer, Service Charge Accountant and Senior Rent Officer.
• Oversee the annual rent and service charge review process, ensuring regulatory compliance across all tenure types.
• Prepare, approve and communicate rent and service charge budgets, reviews and customer notifications.
• Produce accurate leasehold, homeownership, Right‑to‑Buy and variable service charge accounts.
• Maintain robust controls over rent setting, re‑let checks, reconciliations and resolve customer queries.
• Partner with Finance, Housing, Property, Treasury and Operational teams for budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow reporting.
• Support regulatory compliance, audit requirements and risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement, team development and adoption of technology and AI.

Required profile

• Proven experience in rent and service charge management within a housing or property portfolio.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and financial control skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and meet strict deadlines.
• Leadership experience managing a small finance team.
