Rent & Service Charge Manager

About the role

This is a hybrid position based at the headquarters in Chatham, Kent. You will lead a dedicated team of three professionals responsible for rent income, service charge budgets and arrears management within the social housing sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, train and develop a team of three staff members.
• Manage rent accounting processes, including raising rent debits, handling adjustments and monitoring income and arrears.
• Prepare service charge budgets, calculate charges, produce year‑end accounts and resolve tenant queries.
• Generate monthly and year‑end variance reports, support audits and maintain housing/finance systems such as MRI, Civica, Orchard or Northgate.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in a housing‑sector rents and service charge role.
• Strong knowledge of rent standards and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent attention to detail, self‑motivation and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Accounting qualification is desirable but not essential.
