Research Associate in Computational Cardiovascular Science

About the role

We are seeking a postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Computational Cardiovascular Science Group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. The role will contribute to the UK/EU SMASH‑HCM project, developing and applying advanced computer models of the human heart to improve understanding and risk assessment of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop efficient cardiac digital‑twin models of human ventricular function in HCM using multi‑modality MRI and ECG data.
• Perform high‑performance computing studies with personalised models to investigate risk stratification.
• Collaborate with an international, multi‑disciplinary team of clinicians, experimental electrophysiologists and computational scientists.
• Analyse and integrate magnetic‑resonance and electro‑cardiographic datasets into the modelling workflow.
• Contribute to scientific publications and presentations.

Required profile

• PhD in computational biology, biomedical engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
• Experience in scientific computing and model development for cardiac or physiological systems.
• Strong motivation to translate digital‑twin technologies into clinical workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross‑disciplinary environment.
