Research Associate/Fellow in Slavery & War – Data Science & Modelling

About the role
The Leverhulme Centre for Research on Slavery in War is seeking a Research Associate/Fellow to join its inaugural Early‑Career Researcher cohort. Working within the Rights Lab at the University of Nottingham, you will help develop innovative data‑science and computational‑modelling approaches to understand slavery in conflict settings.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement new analytical methods aligned with the Centre’s research agenda.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams at Nottingham and King’s College London on joint projects.
- Identify emerging research opportunities and contribute to team‑based publications.
- Present findings at conferences and within the Centre’s internal seminars.
Required profile
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., social sciences, data science, computational modelling).
- Early‑stage academic career – no prior full‑time permanent academic post.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Track record of publications on related topics.
Required skills
- Knowledge of research methods and research design.
- Experience with data‑driven analysis and computational modelling.
