Research Nurse – Band 7 – Dementia Trials

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join the Alzheimer’s Society UK Dementia Trials Network at Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. The role will support early‑phase dementia clinical trials and help establish the UK Dementia Trials Network within NHS Lothian.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of high‑quality early‑phase dementia studies, ensuring participant safety and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with principal investigators, senior clinicians, and operational teams to design and implement trial protocols.
• Build and expand the dementia trials programme, increasing patient access to emerging treatments.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the wider research team, fostering skill development and best practice.
• Maintain accurate trial documentation, data collection, and reporting in line with NHS governance.

Required profile

• Substantial post‑registration clinical experience as a research nurse.
• Ongoing professional development and a strong understanding of NHS clinical research processes.
• Experience in dementia research and/or early‑phase clinical trials is highly desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a complex, evolving environment.
