Research Officer – Multidimensional Poverty Measurement

About the role
The Oxford Department of International Development is seeking a Research Officer to join the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI). You will support the implementation of multidimensional poverty measures for governments, agencies and think‑tanks.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support to institutions and governments, including online and onsite training.
- Assist partners in designing, validating, or updating national multidimensional poverty measures.
- Contribute to OPHI research by co‑authoring academic papers on methodological and empirical issues.
- Calculate and analyse multidimensional poverty indices.
- Participate in workshops, presentations, seminars and collaborative projects.
Required profile
- PhD/DPhil in economics, social policy or another quantitative social science, or equivalent experience.
- Strong quantitative background and high level of computer literacy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across cultures, time zones and disciplines.
- Willingness to travel up to 90 days per year (subject to restrictions).
- One‑year fixed‑term contract, start as soon as possible.

- STATA (essential).
- Microsoft Office.
