Research Scientist – Organic Synthesis

About the role

We are seeking a Research Scientist specialising in organic synthesis to join our fast‑growing chemistry company in Oxfordshire. The role is ideal for a recent or soon‑to‑complete PhD graduate who wants to apply their expertise in a commercial R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise novel coating and materials chemistries.
• Perform laboratory‑based synthesis and characterisation experiments.
• Support the expansion of the company’s technology platform and intellectual property portfolio.
• Contribute to new product development programmes.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary R&D team.

Required profile

• PhD completed or near completion in Organic Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Strong hands‑on experience in organic synthesis and experimental design.
• Excellent practical laboratory skills and ability to analyse and interpret data.
• Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Interest in translating research into commercial applications.
