Researcher – Organising (Full‑time, Salford)

About the role
The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW) is seeking a Researcher to support its organising agenda from the Head Office in Salford Quays. This full‑time, office‑based position will involve analysing data, drafting guidance and contributing to recruitment campaigns.
Key responsibilities
- Provide research support for the Union’s organising initiatives.
- Assist in developing new and revised recognition agreements.
- Draft guidance for officials and representatives to deliver the organising agenda.
- Analyse organising data across the Union and produce strategic insights.
- Create materials for recruitment and membership campaigns.
Required profile
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in a research‑related role within the trade‑union or labour movement.
- Ability to quickly acquire knowledge on diverse topics and respond to fast‑moving situations.
- Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Effective communication and liaison skills with officials, staff, members and employers.
- Capability to interpret complex member queries and provide clear, actionable information.
