About the role
The Resident Boarding House Parent provides day‑to‑day care for boarders at Claremont School, acting as a parental figure to ensure their safety, wellbeing and readiness for learning. Working on a 40‑hour weekly shift pattern, the role supports the school’s outstanding Ofsted rating and promotes the boarding house as a preferred choice for families.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards, fire safety, health & safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Guide boarders through daily routines, assist with homework, laundry, and healthy dining.
- Facilitate social activities, weekend programmes and weekly trips, fostering a supportive community.
- Monitor accommodation conditions, mental health, ICT use and report any issues to House Leads.
- Maintain accurate registers, daily logs and emergency medication rotas.
Required profile
- Cultural sensitivity, mature interpersonal skills and flexibility.
- Strong organisational ability and basic IT proficiency.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively within a team.
- Professional qualifications or relevant experience in education, care or boarding environments.
- Safeguarding awareness and commitment to Safer Recruitment.
