Residential Childcare Worker – Flexible Shifts

About the role

Randstad Care is looking for compassionate Residential Childcare Workers to support children and young people in residential homes across Darlington. You will provide emotional and practical assistance, helping vulnerable youngsters feel safe and supported.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable children.
• Assist with daily routines, education, hobbies and life‑skill activities.
• Manage challenging behaviours using empathy and de‑escalation techniques.
• Uphold the highest safeguarding standards at all times.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reports.

Required profile

• Previous experience in residential childcare or a similar support setting.
• Resilient, empathetic and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal communication with children and professional teams.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide references.
