Residential Children Support Worker

About the role

Randstad Care is seeking compassionate Residential Children Support Workers to provide emotional and practical support to vulnerable young people in residential homes across North Cumbria. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment where children who have experienced trauma can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Assist with daily routines, including education, hobbies, and life‑skill activities.
• Manage challenging behaviours using empathy and de‑escalation techniques.
• Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and care at all times.
• Record accurate daily logs and reports.

Required profile

• Previous experience in residential childcare or a similar support setting.
• Resilient, empathetic and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or be on the update service) and provide full employment references.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
